What to look for:

What should you know about our product?

  • Does Hemp Extract Oil get you ‘high’?

No, Hemp Extract Oil does not get you ’high’. Hemp Extract Oil is not psychoactive. Food-grain strains of hemp must contain less than 0.3 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the compound that causes the ‘high’ from marijuana.

  • Can Hemp Extract Oil help with my skin problems?

Yes! The oil from the hemp seed is nutritious and is especially helpful for the skin. The vitamins and fatty acids in Hemp Extract Oil may help keep your skin healthy and prevent breakouts. The fatty acids make the oil a great choice for nourishing the skin and protecting from inflammation and aging.

Studies have found that it can treat a range of skin issues, including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, and acne rosacea. These benefits are likely due to the beneficial fats and other helpful compounds in the oil.

  • Does Hemp Extract Oil help with ‘brain fog’?

Yes! It is an all-natural solution with no harmful side effects. It benefits the body and mind without any of the risks associated with pharmaceutical medications, including the risk of overdosing and addiction.

  • Is Hemp Extract Oil good for stress and anxiety?

Yes! It promotes a decrease in stress and anxiety, helping individuals who need to concentrate on a single task or clear their minds. Hemp Extract Oil doesn’t necessarily boost serotonin levels, but it may affect how your brain’s chemical receptors respond to the serotonin that’s already in your body.

  • Does Hemp Extract Oil cause any side effects?

So far, Hemp Extract Oil doesn’t appear to cause many side effects, but some people may be more sensitive to it and experience diarrhea (due to the Coconut Oil), fatigue, and changes in weight or appetite. Experts haven’t identified any major long-term risks. In a 2017 review, the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that Hemp Extract is ‘generally safe’. They noted that adverse effects may be caused between Hemp Extract and medications.  To minimize your risk of side effects, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider before trying Hemp Extract.

  • How does Hemp Extract Oil compare to antidepressant medications?

When it comes to treating depression, Hemp Extract Oil does appear to have some benefits over antidepressant medications. Most antidepressant medications take weeks to start working. However, a 2019 study found that Hemp Extract has a fast and sustained antidepressant-like effect. It may also result in fewer side effects than antidepressant medication. Insomnia, sexual dysfunction, mood swings, and agitation are common side effects of antidepressants. Hemp Extract has not shown similar issues.

Caution: While Hemp Extract Oil may offer some benefits over antidepressant medications, it isn’t a replacement.

Never stop taking prescribed medication, especially antidepressants, without talking to your healthcare provider first.

Here are a few ways to make sure you are getting the highest quality Hemp Extract oils that will benefit your needs.

1.  Make sure it's grown to its purest state and is lab-tested.

As the hemp plant is known to absorb toxins, make sure it's grown to its purest state and lab-tested. If the soil is clean, then your hemp and cannabinoid extracts will be clean. Our hemp plants are hand-harvested and grown in the San Jacinto Mountains in California. It’s all ethically sourced right here in the USA!

You can also ask for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from a third-party lab, which tests for contaminants, solvents, and the percentage of cannabinoids. At Pemaquid Oils, we will happily provide customers with a COA. We have a trusted lab that our owner, Donna, swears by!

2.  Make sure it's full-spectrum for maximum effect.

Full-spectrum refers to the use of the whole hemp plant vs. an isolate which extracts the desired cannabinoid from the plant. Full-spectrum means that you'll get the good stuff—any claimed additional cannabinoids and terpenes are already naturally occurring in the whole plant. An "entourage effect" occurs within the plant—meaning the chemical compounds work better together, rather than in isolation, giving you maximum benefits!

All of our Hemp Extract oils are full-spectrum, so our customers can know that they are getting the best products they can buy.

3.  Make sure you use the proper carrier oil.

Hemp Extract Oil tinctures often include a carrier oil to help stabilize it and increase its bioavailability. This works because Hemp Extract Oil is a fat-soluble substance. MCT oil, a saturated fatty acid made from coconut oil, is often used because it is known to be one of the fastest sources of clean fuel for your body.

Bioavailability is the rate at which your body absorbs a substance into your bloodstream. Ideally, you want a higher bioavailability—absorption under your tongue is the highest, compared to edibles that pass through your digestive system.

We wouldn’t think about using an oil other than coconut oil as the carrier oil for our Hemp Extract Oils. We have found that it allows for the highest and fastest absorption into the body.
